Feltöltve - 2018-11-21 16:10:00The Library celebrating the 150th anniversary of its foundation has always been the library of legislation and for 65 years it has also been serving as a special research library of law open to the public. This duality drives its activities related to managing and conserving cultural heritage as well: as a library supporting legislation it has a duty to preserve and make publicly available the Hungarian parliamentary documents as national cultural assets not only in print but also in a digitized version. Similarly, as a library of law, the long-term preservation of its unique legal collection is also a priority. Our recently launched "Gateway to Hungarian Law" digitization project has also been created along the lines of nurturing our legal heritage.

A well-structured and safe stackroom is an essential and self-explanatory instrument to maintain the condition of library items, the storage of which requires the greatest care and expertise. For years after its establishment, the initial difficulties and the scarcity of storage space prevented the Library of the House of Representatives from designating an appropriate stackroom since at the time the library operated in the National Museum the building of which was not suitable for this purpose.
