Remembering Jusztinián Serédi, scholar of canon law, archbishop of Esztergom, member of Upper House

Jusztinán Serédi was born on 24 April 1884 as the tenth child of the Szapucsek family. He was ordained as a monk and upon ordination received the surname of his predecessor, Jusztinián Hollósy astronomer and member of the academy. After graduation he continued his studies in Rome, where he became deeply involved in canon law, which profoundly shaped his future work as well as his world view and eventually made him a widely respected scholar and one of the most influential personalities within the Hungarian Catholic Church.
