Carte rouge – The Ethnographic map of Hungary

Recognizing that Hungary would finish World War I on the losing side and probably be forced to accept the disadvantageous consequences of a prospective peace treaty, from 1918 onwards the entire Hungarian academic community united their efforts to provide scientifically grounded arguments to support Hungary's standpoint. The multidisciplinary academic team led and supervised by the internationally acclaimed geographer, Pál Teleki had produced a vast number of maps and documents on various subjects ranging from ethnography, to economics and political relations.
