International conference to remember the 150th anniversary of the Austro-Hungarian Compromise

The Austro-Hungarian Compromise of 1867 is undoubtedly one of most defining events in the Hungarian history, yet - as the political, social and economic circumstances under which it was negotiated were highly versatile and complex - it is still prone to contradictory interpretations and provokes strong feelings on part of historians and the general public alike. On 26 September 2017 in the Upper House Chamber of the Parliament an international history conference - organised by the Directorate for Cultural Affairs - will scrutinize the antecedents, course and aftermath of this landmark event.

Participation is free of charge but all attendants are required to register until 20 September at http://www.nemzetfotere.hu/rendezvenyek?event=kiegyezes-konferencia-0926
