Károly Panka former director of the Library of Parliament died 50 years ago
Károly Panka was born on 30 July 1882 in Pécska (now Romania). After his graduation as a lawyer from the University of Kolozsvár (now Cluj-Napoca, Romania), he completed his doctorate on public administration in 1910. He started working for the House of Representatives in 1903 as a civil servant and stayed with the institution until his retirement 37 years later. For 34 years he had served as a librarian during which time he had held the title of the director for 13 years.
