On establishing the library

The Library of the Hungarian National Assembly was officially founded by the House of Representatives in the late 1860s to facilitate legislative work. The establishment, however, was in fact an evolutionary process, rather than a one-off event: it took decades until the Assembly eventually became able to open a full-functioning library that could effectively serve lawmakers' professional and intellectual needs.
