One day – two emblematic events – 6 July 1989

30 years ago, on 6th July 1989, the Presidential Committee of the Hungarian Supreme Court acquitted Imre Nagy, Prime Minister of the 1956 revolution and his fellows on all charges brought against them in 1958 in an ungrounded criminal trial. Ironically, János Kádár, the defining political figure of an era that was actually hallmarked by these infamous court decisions died on the very same day at the age of 77.
