Remembering the 150th Anniversary of the Austro-Hungarian Compromise

The Austro Hungarian Compromise of 1867 is undoubtedly one of most defining events in the Hungarian history, yet - as the political, social and economic circumstances under which it was negotiated were highly versatile and complex - it is still prone to contradictory interpretations and provokes strong feelings on part of the Hungarian people. On 8 June, the day Franz Joseph I was crowned King of Hungary, we remembered the 150th Anniversary of the Compromise.
