Reopening of the Budapest Stock Exchange 30 years ago

The stock market is one of the most important ways for companies to raise money, allowing businesses to be publicly traded, and raise additional financial capital for expansion by selling shares of ownership of the company in a public market. In Hungary the Stock Exchange – originally established in 1864 – was reopened in 1990 after a several decade-long pause during the years of state-socialism. Remembering the anniversary, we summarise the 150-year-old history of the institution.
