A library's scope of collection is typically defined by its function, that is the needs of the target groups it serves. The Library of the Hungarian Parliament is on the one hand the library of the House, and as such exclusively responsible for supplying the legislation with the necessary documents and information. On the other hand, however, it is a national public research library that shall facilitate the academic advancement of present and future practising lawyers, legal scholars as well as various law enforces. This dual function of the library is in turn reflected in its main and subsidiary scope of collection alike.
