COVID-19 prevention measures at the Library of Parliament

Information on advance seat reservation

The reading room may only accommodate 50 visitors simultaneously.
To avoid long waits to get into the building, our patrons may reserve a seat in advance until 9 a.m. the latest on the day of their visit by calling +36 1 441 4133 or by email at registration@ogyk.hu.

We kindly ask you to provide the exact time of your prospective arrival when reserving a place. Reservations shall be maintained until an additional hour after the time of your appointment. If you miss the reserved time slot, please contact us by phone or email, so that we could preserve your place. If you fail to show up by the reserved time and do not notify us, your reservation shall be cancelled automatically.

In order to increase the efficiency of preventive measures against COVID-19, as of 18 September 2020 further restrictions have been introduced in the entire territory of the House of Parliament including the Library of Parliament in accordance with Government Decree 431/2020. (18 September) on the protective measures during the period of state of epidemic preparedness.

As part of the guidelines, the on-duty member of the Parliamentary Guard measures the body temperature of all visitors prior to their admission into the building, using a contactless thermometer. If the value exceeds 37.2°C, the admission shall be denied. The measured values are not stored in any way, there is no data handling during the process.

Prior to entering library spaces, visitors are required to sanitize their hands at the contactless sanitizing stations at the entrance.

Also, visitors are required to wear masks covering both nose and mouth during entering, leaving and staying in territory of the library.

In order to keep a safe distance, visitors are required to occupy only the designated seats in the reading areas.

Library services are all available except using library computer workstations. We have installed a few library computers for catalogue search but to do any other IT-related activity, please bring you own device. Please note that each document used by visitors shall be quarantined for 72 hours before returned to circulation.
