International Labour Organization Celebrates Centenary

The International Labour Organization was created in 1919, as part of the Treaty of Versailles that ended World War I, to reflect the belief that universal and lasting peace can be accomplished only if it is based on social justice. The original signatory countries to ILO were Belgium, Cuba, Czechoslovakia, France, Italy, Japan, Poland, the United Kingdom and the United States.

This year's scholarship programme kicks off this weekend

Our annual scholarship programme entitled 'Library Connecting People' starts on 28 September. During the one-month programme, the Library of Parliament welcomes 8 librarians from cross-border Hungarian communities and two professionals from domestic institutions. Like in previous years, the scholarship-winners are to be joined by delegates from various libraries in Budapest. The participants will have the opportunity to get a thorough insight into the workings of the Office of the Hungarian National Assembly and the library within it as well as the entire Hungarian library network.

Reviving the past – Vintage tools and books in Cultural Heritage Days' programme

s each year, the Library of the Hungarian Parliament joined Cultural Heritage Days' programmes again on 21-22 September 2019. We welcomed our visitors not only with guided tours around library spaces but also with various book and vintage-tool exhibitions that gave our guests the opportunity to discover life and workflows in the library 100 years ago.
